A very crispy wire was causing this floor standing designer lamp to short and fail. A bit of replacement cable and a bit of light soldering and she shines again.

A little light afternoon tinkering with a Roomba I robot vacuum cleaner. The brushes were not spinning on this one due to half a dog being lodge inside the gears. Cleared and cleaned and it now runs. This Christmas light- up deer decoration came into the workshop in January this year after a fox or mice had chewed through the wires. A snapped antler was sorted with three cable ties and the wiring just needed some soldering and hear shrink. Ready for Christmas'21 and now not headed to the tip. #repaired #repair #worthing

Tonight's repair. A Dualit kettle with the ubiquitous Strix kettle switch. The switch had failed (common) and so I replaced the Dualit custom Strix switch with a generic one, bought for a couple of quid online. Wasn't straightforward. Not my usual repair-fare, but interesting anyway. This child's battery powered, ride on Land Rover Defender is the sort of thing I would have loved as a kid. They cost more than my actual car! Look at this lovely Type 75 Anglepoise lamp. New cord and (when finished) a new felt base. After 60 odd years, the original felt has worn away. Not bad for it's age. @anglepoise sadly, this one's got to go home to its owner soon. If had the money! #worthing #repairshop #repair

And just to prove that it now works!

A slightly unusual repair today on a child's nightlight. The lamp had come out and chipped the circuit, breaking it. I was able to glue it and fit a jumper wire (green) in place of the failed track. Luck was on my side.

An unusual repair request this week: please can you repair an old 60's #Scrabble box? Hmm, where to start. These pictures don't really show how poor the condition was, but with some patience, PVA, matched paint and it didn't look half-bad. Sympathetic #restoration #repair

Here's a sightly odd repair. I'm trying lightly restore a 50 year old Scrabble board. The plastic counter thingy has slipped down. So by carefully heating it with a hairdryer, I hope to reposition it. #toyrepair #Scrabble #worthing

You have to admire the ingenuity here. Battery (Li-Lon) posting by mail is possibly banned, but this supplier found a way around the problem by packing the battery in a fake computer mouse. Very clever decoy. #repair #decoy

An interesting repair tonight on a doll (keep it clean!!) One broken leg repaired with a cut down rivet and Araldite.

Guess the name of the part. It's a tough one. I'll tell you anyway. Its a gearbox case from a pro kitchenaid which was cracked. To save it, I'm hoping that araldite and my home made jig will work. @kitchenaid_uk

Along with a curiosity for taking things apart as a kid, these Ladybird books certainly provided some encouragement at the time. Some things were never reassembled...

Look at this beauty, ready to go home. A chef A901 fresh for a light restoration.

Here's a lovely clock on test, with a mystery fault. It stops randomly. Not sure why at the moment. I suspect a slightly iffy spring, but time will tell.

Poor E.T. This period toy is supposed to light up, but with a broken battery snap and missing lighting up finger, he won't be phoning home anytime soon. Time to get some lovely new parts and get creative!

Here we have a Kenwood Kmix, that was stuck shut. Its taken over an hour to free-off the stuck mechanism. No parts required, just tinker time. Time for a cuppa now!

Another Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep machine with new thermal fuses. Tricky little blighters to sort, but parts are cheap.
